We lived in southwest Florida for a stint. When friends and family would visit, we would take them to our favorite beaches. One of those beaches was Gasparilla Island. It was never crowded, always peaceful, and because we timed our visits for later in the day, provided breathtaking, bright orange, pink, and sometimes purple, or red sunsets. This particular evening featured a sky so orange it looked like the whole atmosphere were on fire. I sat with friends, as the show burned the sunset into my memory. forever keeping “Gasparilla on my Mind.”
